Lanson Place Bukit Ceylon - Amazing panoramic view of Kuala Lumpur

It is the second time when we visit Kuala Lumpur during our travels thru S-E Asia, and we are still mesmerised by the scenic views, especially the night scenery, and the rich diversity of cultures.

Malaysia’s capital heritage is a diverse mix of Malay, Chinese and Indian influences and not to forget about the long period of British colonial rule.

This time we wanted to stay in Bukit Ceylon as it is very close to KLCC, Petronas Twin Towers, KL Tower and the vibrant Bukit Bintang. Lanson Place Bukit Ceylon Serviced Residences was the perfect place to enjoy the city’s magnificent skyline while being at a walking distance from our favourite spots in KL.

Lanson Place manages eleven serviced apartment buildings in Shanghai, Chengdu, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Hong Kong.
Lanson Place Bukit Ceylon is placed in the heart of Kuala Lumpur and features fully furnished 1, 2 or 3 bedroom apartments. All the apartments have stylish, modern interior design with hi-tech facilities.

After a busy and tiring morning, we very much enjoyed the warm and friendly welcome at Lanson Place. But the best part was yet to come. When we entered into our suite, the view from our window left us speechless for a couple of moments.

While we arrived at Lanson Place, a storm was approaching the city. Trust me, the view of Kuala Lumpur’s skyscrapers slowly disappearing into the heavy, dark clouds and the beautiful lightning show offered us one of the most beautiful displays of the city.

It took us a while to get away from the window and to finally explore our one-bedroom residence. We stayed at the 47th floor and from our bedroom and living room we had panoramic views of the city, the KL Tower and the iconic Petronas Towers.

We were very lucky, as from our suite we could see the sunrise and the sunset and both were spectacular.
The kitchen was fully equipped with washer and dryer, dishwasher, microwave, oven, fridge freezer and everything you need to cook your own meals.

The bathroom was spacious with one bathtub, and two showers (a rain shower and a normal one) and designer toiletries were included.

Every morning, the breakfast buffet was served on the top floor, the 48th level, with the same amazing views over the city. The breakfast was Continental with many options to choose from; I especially liked the smoked salmon and the delicious pastries.

At the 49th level, we enjoyed some time in the lounge, playing pool, drinking coffee and taking photos of the magnificent Petronas Towers. The lounge is perfect for business travellers for meetings or getting some work done.

There is also an open terrace (with a barbeque area) where we liked to sip our coffee in the morning and enjoy the sun. ☺

Both the restaurant and the lounge have a warm atmosphere and staying at 47th floor and having them just above us made us feel like we were staying in a penthouse.

At the top level we had the fully equipped gym, shame on me as I didn't use it and on the 5th floor was a huge swimming pool surrounded by palm trees, that obviously I couldn't resist to try it. There is also a bar near the pool from where you can order some food or just get yourself a coconut and enjoy it while reading a book and get some tan.

The view from our room was definitely the highlight of our stay at Lanson Place.  Every day ended with us in front of the window, contemplating the skyline of one of the most fascinating Asian cities.

Oakwood Hotel & Residence Kuala Lumpur - Home away from home

On our recent visit to Kuala Lumpur, we were looking for pleasant and spacious accommodations where we can work and relax at the same time.

We chose to spend a couple of days at Oakwood Hotel & Residence Kuala Lumpur. It is located on Jalan Ampang at only 30-minute walk from Petronas Twin Towers and Suria Shopping Centre. However they also provide a free shuttle service from hotel to main destinations in the city, you can check the schedules at the reception or at their tourist information desk

We stayed in One-Bedroom Deluxe Apartment with kitchenette (only essential kitchen appliances), dining and living area with wide screen LCD TV, DVD Player and a luxurious bathroom with rainforest shower and designer toiletries.

The apartment was very spacious with an amazingly comfortable bed and the furniture was in excellent condition. The Wi-Fi had a very good speed which was important to us because we spent a lot of time working from the apartment. We also had a pretty cool view towards the monorail line and the city (which was beautiful at night) that contributed to our pleasant stay.

What we liked more about this hotel, beside the comfortable apartment, was the friendly staff. They were always smiling, greeting us every time we passed by and very helpful when we needed any information by giving us directions, tips and recommendations.

The breakfast buffet was very good with lots of options to choose from. My favourites were definitely the green and pink guava juice (very tasty and with no sugar added) and the egg station.  Having breakfast by the pool every morning was very enjoyable and relaxing in the same time, the perfect start for the day ☺

The fact that there was a fully equipped gym and they offer internal laundry facilities was definitely a plus for us.

If you are looking for a comfortable and friendly place to stay during your travels I highly recommend Oakwood Hotel & Residence Kuala Lumpur. It is situated in the heart of Kuala Lumpur and has all the amenities that you will need for a hassle-free stay.

THE FACE Suites – One of the best infinity pools in Kuala Lumpur

Since I saw a video on YouTube presenting this impressive serviced apartments hotel, THE FACE Suites became my number one place to stay during our trip to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

THE FACE Suites is situated in the Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory Region, 300 m from Starhill Gallery and within walking distance from KLCC where you can find the well-known Petronas Towers, Suria Shopping Center and Aquaria KLCC. It is just about 5 minutes’ walk from the monorail station Dang Wangi Putra LRT.

THE FACE Suites has one of the best infinity pools in town, at 51st floor, with no protective glass to block your sight which leaves you with an incredible panoramic view of the city and the amazing Petronas Twin Towers in the background.

The scenery that opens up from the infinity pool is breath-taking, it literally looks like the whole city was put in a huge frame that is hanging from the sky. The view from above was incredible during the day and truly mesmerizing at sunset and nightfall.

We were lucky, they offered us a one bedroom suite at 41st floor with overlooking view of the both Petronas Twin Towers as well as the Menara KL Tower. It was the first time when we checked in and didn't want to get outside the hotel for the two days that we stayed.

The apartment is very spacious, with a fully furnished kitchen including a washing machine and dryer, a large living area and an open bedroom which can be separated by a sliding wall.

A minus at the time we went there is that there was no restaurant yet, only a small cafe in the lobby but they were just building one on the rooftop (we saw the project and it’s going to be amazing!). But don’t worry, there are plenty of restaurants near the hotel: Indian, Arabic restaurants, Hard Rock Café and many others.

We probably spent the whole time on the rooftop: swimming, taking hundreds of photos and just enjoying life.

If you are visiting Kuala Lumpur it's worth spending at least one night at THE FACE Suites.

Coco Resort - Nusa Penida, Indonesia

Nusa Penida is the biggest and the most beautiful island out of the three neighbouring islands (Lembongan, Ceningan, Penida), but ironically there are very few accommodations on this island.

We spent three nights at Coco Resort and we loved it - great food, soundless place, a nice pool and awesome big bungalows - and when I say big, I mean it. The room is very spacious with a king size bed and high ceiling, the bathroom is also spacious and has a rainforest style shower.

The staff was very friendly; the receptionist was one of the most chatty and welcoming I have met. They also have a spa where you can enjoy a full body massage. The pool is great, we went for a swim while it was raining outside and it was so cool, the water was so warm like we were in a thermal spring pool.

The resort is only 7 min drive away from Crystal Bay Beach which is also a very nice place to try snorkelling. We went there a couple of mornings and after about 9am the tide is just perfect, the beach is awesome, and there are a lot of boats with tourists doing snorkelling as well.

We also went all the way up to Atuh Beach. From the resort, it took us about 2 hours to get there by scooter, well let's say nearly 3 hours because we got lost :) The road to Angel's Billabong is shorter, about 1 hour ride, but is very challenging, we actually didn't think that our scooter will get thru that day.

With that being said, thumbs up for Coco Resort, it's a place we recommend.

Le Pirate Beach Club - A true island experience in Indonesia

One of the locations where you can find Le Pirate’s beach boxes is Ceningan Island. Nusa Ceningan is located between Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Penida being the smallest of the three gems that you can find at only thirty minutes boat ride from Bali.

When we planned our trip to these wonderful islands, and we saw Le Pirate’s Instagram account we immediately knew that this is the perfect place for a true island experience and obviously for some awesome Instagram photos :)

It is very easy to get there. From Sanur Beach, Bali you can take a speed boat to Mushroom Beach on Lembongan Island and usually the ticket includes transfer from and to the boat. Make sure you buy an open return ticket for the boat ride to be able to return whenever you want; you never know how much you will like the island and expand your stay as we did. The transfer is only to the Yellow Bridge (the bridge that connects Nusa Lembongan with Nusa Ceningan) where somebody from Le Pirate’s staff will pick you up.

When we arrived there, it looked even more beautiful than in the pictures. Don’t expect to find a fancy resort; it has only 10 white beach boxes that are very tiny but with a private outdoor bathroom. Just imagine how you would feel taking a shower under the clear sky on a full Moon. How cool is that?

Every day will start with us chilling on our shaded terrace, listening to the sound of the ocean and enjoying the view towards the pool and the crystal clear turquoise water that surrounded the island. Our beach box was called WORLD, and we even had a lovely cool blue hammock on our terrace.
There are loads of activities that you can do while staying here: snorkelling, diving, cliff jumping, surfing, massage, paddle boarding. If you go there at the right time and wake up early in the morning, you can even see the seaweed farmers collecting seaweed in their small boats.

The thing that we liked the most, besides the turquoise water that we love, was the chill vibe that this place has. We enjoyed having a cocktail at the pool bar and chatting with other travellers until late night, sharing cool stories about our travels and amazing experiences that we went thru. The atmosphere is super friendly, and Le Pirate definitely has a cool vibe.

Like they say "Always be yourself, unless you can be a pirate. Then always be a pirate."

Komodo Garden - Nusa Lembongan, Indonesia

Komodo Garden is located on the beautiful Nusa Lembongan, ideally placed within walking distance of Sandy Bay Beach (about 1 minute) and Dream Beach (5 minutes).

Their bungalows feature a traditional wooden Lumbung style architecture (the old rice barn design - part of Bali’s unique cultural heritage). The rooms are very spacious, warm and cosy, with a beautiful terrace where we used to relax while sipping our coffee. The best part for us was the outdoor bathroom (we love outdoor bathrooms!) half covered and half under the blue sky.

Because there are not too many bungalows, the pool seemed like a private pool to us. The deep blue colour of the water and the lush vegetation made us feel like we were swimming in a lagoon.

We also liked the fact that it was very close to Devil’s Tears and Dead Pool and we didn’t have to wake up too early to get there in time for the sunrise.

The staff was very nice and friendly, helped us getting around the island and arranged our transport to Nusa Ceningan. We also got a good deal for snorkelling in 3 places around Nusa Penida (we didn’t see the Manta Rays, but we still enjoyed it).

Komodo Garden was amazing - we had all the important tourist attractions around us, a good restaurant (The Beach Club Restaurant) just around the corner and the experience of a warm shower while watching the stars.

Graha Cakra Hotel - Secluded place to relax in Denpasar, Indonesia

We know that Denpasar can be quite hectic sometimes so we chose Graha Cakra Hotel as our first stop in Bali because it is just outside the city and at only 20 min by car from Ubud. It is at about 35 minutes ride from the airport and, for us, the best way to get around the city was Uber. A free shuttle to Sanur Beach is available three times a day.

The hotel has a nice, authentic Balinese style with very spacious traditional rooms and a lovely garden. There is no gym but you can use the tennis court and you can choose between 2 pools: one beside the restaurant and one at the back of the garden.

We enjoyed the pools almost every day, especially the longer one that is surrounded by lush vegetation and has 3 pretty cool stone bridges. We used to hang a lot on these bridges, they offer a great view over the pool and they’re a good spot for taking photos and observing the divers while doing their training. Yes, it is a scuba diving training pool and is 120 m long and 4 m deep ☺ Most of the time we had the pool pretty much to ourselves.

The open space restaurant offers a combination of local dishes as well as a few western choices. We liked it because it was quiet during the day and it was nice to use it as a working place. The view towards the green garden and the chirping birds helped a lot with our state of mind ☺

The staff was very friendly and they were always making sure we had everything we needed.

Also within walking distances, you will find a few shops where prices are not that outrageous as in the most touristic areas of Denpasar. We actually purchased a SIM card at half the price that it was sold in Seminyak or Kuta.

Overall I would recommend this place for people who are looking for a quiet place to relax while still be around at a reasonable distance from most attractions in Denpasar and Ubud.

I was offered a complimentary stay at the Graha Cakra Hotel in exchange for a review. As always, all opinions expressed on are my own.

The best value for money in the heart of Nimman area in Chiang Mai, Thailand

Although there are so many options in Chiang Mai when comes to renting a Condo, we found The Nimman by Palm Springs to be the best choice mainly because we wanted to have access to a pool and a gym and at the same time to be closer to coffee shops and coworking spaces. The building it's quite new, 24h security, lovely spacious one bedroom condos, fully furnished with a small kitchenette, own wifi and a fantastic rooftop pool and gym situated on Soi 9 in Nimman area.

Around, at minutes walking distance you have all types of restaurants and coffee shops and clubs for every taste. With prices that range from 15000 - 20000 baht/month depends on how long you stay, from my point of view it's the best offer you can get in Nimman considering all the amenities you get access too.

So if you ever plan to go to Chiang Mai and live there for a longer time, I highly recommend this condominium.
